️ Video – 5.0 out of 5
Restored in 4K from the original 35mm camera negative by Sony Pictures Entertainment, this native 4K presentation is visually stunning. Dolby Vision grading brings out gorgeous levels of contrast and saturation, especially in the film’s darker interiors and emotionally heavy sequences. Color fidelity is superb, maintaining a deeply filmic aesthetic with healthy primaries and excellent shadow detail. The image retains organic grain, with no evidence of DNR or edge enhancement. This is a textbook example of how a film from the 1980s should look in 4K.
Audio – 5.0 out of 5
Presented with a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 stereo track, this mix is clean, full-bodied, and true to the original theatrical sound. Dialogue is always clear and upfront, while Herbie Hancock’s score is jazz-rich and dynamic. While limited to 2 channels, the spatial design and warmth of the mix feel just right for a personal, introspective story like this. No age-related hiss, pops, or distortions were present.
