Movie
The beloved comedy that launched Chris Farley and David Spade into ‘90s buddy-movie legend! From the office to the open road, Tommy Boy brings non-stop laughs, heart, and some of the most quotable scenes in comedy history.
️ Video Quality – 3.0/5
This is the same HD master used since Paramount’s 2008 release. While perfectly watchable, it lacks the sharpness and clarity modern transfers can offer. Colors are serviceable but don’t pop like they do on the 4K disc. There’s light grain and some softness throughout, and the encode shows its age in places. If you’re watching on a large screen, the 4K disc is the way to go—but this Blu-ray still works fine for casual viewing.
Audio Quality – 3.0/5
The Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track gets the job done. Dialogue is clear and balanced, and music from the era sounds lively and fun. There’s not much in terms of directional sound or heavy bass, but for a comedy like this, it’s perfectly appropriate. ️
Special Features – 2.5/5
Carried over from previous editions, this disc includes:
- Cast commentary
- Featurette: “Tommy Boy: Behind the Laughter”
- Gag reel
- Theatrical trailer
They’re solid extras if you’ve never seen them before, but longtime fans will recognize everything here.
⭐ Overall – 3.0/5
As part of the 4K combo pack, this Blu-ray is a nice inclusion for those wanting a backup or watching on a non-UHD player. While the A/V presentation isn’t groundbreaking, it still offers a fun and familiar ride down memory lane. For the best experience, stick with the 4K disc—but this Blu-ray holds its own.
