Chris Farley and David Spade are comedy gold in this unforgettable road-trip buddy comedy! Tommy Boy follows the misadventures of lovable goofball Tommy Callahan as he tries to save the family business. It’s a mix of heart, slapstick, and quotable one-liners (“What’d you do?!?”). A true ’90s classic that never gets old.
️ Video Quality – 4.5/5
This is the best Tommy Boy has ever looked! The native 4K transfer is clean and detailed, with Dolby Vision adding nice depth and warmth. Colors are vibrant, and fine detail—especially in wide shots and facial close-ups—is a massive upgrade from previous releases. It maintains the film’s natural grain and doesn’t look overly scrubbed. Paramount did a great job bringing this cult comedy into the UHD era. ️✨
Audio Quality – 4.0/5
The Dolby TrueHD 5.1 mix is solid and does exactly what it needs to. Dialogue is clear, and there’s good surround presence during music cues and road sequences. It’s not a showstopper mix, but it’s crisp and clean—perfect for a dialogue-driven comedy like this.
Special Features – 2.5/5
Unfortunately, no new extras are added. This is the same set of features from the 2008 release, but at least the fan-favorite commentary and featurettes are here. If you’re a longtime fan, you’ll still appreciate having them on the UHD set, but it feels like a missed opportunity for something new.
⭐ Overall – 4.0/5
A must-own for fans of ‘90s comedies and Chris Farley. The 4K presentation is worth the upgrade, even if the extras are minimal. Between the great A/V quality and the nostalgic value, this one’s a no-brainer.
