Movie

5.0/5

Same electrifying film as the 4K — Ken Russell’s surreal, psychedelic, wildly kinetic adaptation of The Who’s rock opera.
Insane visuals, incredible music, and unforgettable performances from Ann-Margret, Oliver Reed, Elton John, Tina Turner, Jack Nicholson, and Roger Daltrey. ️

Video Quality (Blu-ray 1080p)

4.5/5

⚡ This Blu-ray is also sourced from the new 4K remaster done from the original camera negative and color interpositive. ⚡
It looks fantastic for 1080p:

  • Beautiful fine grain structure
  • Strong detail in faces, costumes, and production design
  • Vibrant colors (especially reds and yellows)
  • Solid blacks and nice contrast

It’s not as razor-sharp or color-rich as the 4K HDR version, but it blows away the older 2010 Blu-ray!

Audio Quality

5.0/5

✅ Same amazing options as the 4K disc:

  • 5.0 DTS-HD MA “Quintaphonic” mix (authentically replicates the 1975 roadshow experience)
  • 5.1 DTS-HD MA mix
  • 2.0 DTS-HD MA stereo mix

Huge, immersive, and swirling musical experience. Instruments are crisp, vocals cut through beautifully, and bass has solid punch.
If you love The Who, this audio mix is a must-hear!

Special Features

No bonus features on this Blu-ray either.
(Like the 4K, this is a movie-only disc.)

✍️ Overall Recommendation

4.0/5 – Highly Recommended!

This Blu-ray still gives you the new remaster, killer sound, and stunning visuals in full HD.
A monumental upgrade over past releases.
A crazy, colorful, hallucinogenic rock opera experience that only Ken Russell and The Who could deliver.
