Movie
John Travolta leads this gritty military mystery as a CID investigator digging into the brutal death of a general’s daughter—and the deeper secrets it exposes within the U.S. Army. With dark political undertones, psychological layers, and intense interrogations, this late-‘90s thriller plays like a blend of A Few Good Men and Basic. ⚖️
️ Video Quality – 3.5/5
While this Blu-ray benefits from the same new 4K master used for the UHD disc, the results here are obviously a step down. That said, it’s still a big improvement over past releases. Colors are more balanced, contrast has better punch, and detail in the darker sequences is noticeably cleaner. Skin tones stay warm, and black levels are solid, though compression and lack of HDR naturally flatten some of the image. Still, for a 1080p backup, this is mission accomplished. ️️
Audio Quality
DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track with strong center-channel clarity and layered ambient sound. Explosions, helicopters, and gunfire should have the punch they need, while dialogue remains steady and impactful. Final confirmation pending!
Special Features
Features are shared between the Blu-ray and 4K disc. Kino typically ports over:
- Director or cast commentary
- Theatrical trailer
- Maybe a vintage EPK featurette
We’ll update as soon as the full bonus package is confirmed. ️
⭐ Overall – 3.5/5
If you’re watching in 1080p, this Blu-ray gets the job done—with a clean transfer sourced from the new 4K remaster and solid audio expected. While not as vibrant or dynamic as its UHD sibling, it still brings The General’s Daughter to disc with justice. A worthy companion for collectors or anyone not yet 4K-ready. ️
