Movie

5.0/5

A haunting odyssey through the desolate beauty of the American Southwest, Paris, Texas follows a man lost in time and memory, rediscovering love, guilt, and fatherhood. Harry Dean Stanton gives the performance of a lifetime under Wim Wenders’ lyrical direction. ️

4K Video Quality

3.5/5

✅ Brand-new 4K restoration from the original camera negative
✅ Supervised by Wim Wenders
✅ Viewed in Dolby Vision

  • Outstanding clarity, texture, and stability across the film
  • Surface grain is smooth and natural ️
  • However, color grading controversy: original blues are now shifted toward neon-turquoise, giving parts of the film an unintended stylized modern feel
  • Bright daylight scenes and darker nighttime sequences are handled with care through Dolby Vision ⚡
  • While technically strong, the altered palette disrupts the film’s vintage realism — a disappointment for purists

Gorgeous transfer that misses emotional resonance due to grading choices

Audio Quality

5.0/5

Ry Cooder’s iconic slide guitar soundtrack sings with warmth and atmosphere
Dialog is clear and immersive throughout
️ DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 provides subtle surround ambiance and deep emotional texture

No remix gimmicks. Just soulful, restrained audio done right.

Special Features (on 4K Disc)

  • Archival Audio Commentary by Wim Wenders — in-depth breakdown of key scenes, locations, and production stories

All other bonus features are located on the included Blu-ray disc

Overall Score

3.5/5 – Worth Owning, With Caveats

✨ A visually gorgeous but controversial 4K upgrade of a modern classic
✨ The Dolby Vision and source clarity are unmatched — but color timing alterations will be divisive
If you value theatrical authenticity, the included Blu-ray may be your preferred viewing choice
Still highly recommended.
