Release Date: September 10, 2024
️ Runtime: 96 minutes
Genres: Family | Animation | Comedy | Drama
Rating: PG

️ Video – 5.0/5

  • Codec: MPEG-4 AVC
  • Resolution: 1080p
  • Aspect Ratio: 2.39:1

Inside Out 2 looks absolutely stunning in HD, showcasing Pixar’s visual brilliance with razor-sharp detail, lush color saturation, and gorgeous image clarity. The painterly visuals of Riley’s inner world are full of texture and depth, from the fuzzy glow of each emotion to the soft shading of the Belief System and Sense of Self. Colors are bold without being garish — Joy’s golden hue, Anxiety’s nervous orange pop, and the neon glow of the Vault are beautifully rendered. Shadow detail is strong, contrast is pitch-perfect, and the image holds up beautifully even in dimly lit or layered animation scenes. One of the best-looking Blu-rays of the year — no question.

Audio – 5.0/5

  • Audio Tracks:
    • English DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1
    • French Dolby Digital Plus 7.1
    • Spanish Dolby Digital Plus 7.1
    • English Dolby Digital 5.1
  • Subtitles: English SDH, French, Spanish

This 7.1 mix is no slouch compared to its Atmos counterpart on the 4K disc. It’s a wonderfully immersive experience, with a wide dynamic range and clean channel separation. From the chaotic HQ moments to sweeping emotional sequences, the mix brings warmth and presence to everything from booming LFE effects to delicate ambient cues. Dialogue is crisp and always intelligible, musical cues are full-bodied and room-filling, and surround activity is highly effective — especially in the memory spaces and hockey match sequences. Even without Atmos, this mix fully envelops the viewer.

Special Features and Extras – 2.0/5

(All supplements are on this disc; the 4K disc contains none.)

  • New Emotions (HD, 11:44) – Meet the fresh faces inside Riley’s mind and explore their development.
  • Unlocking the Vault (HD, 8:59) – A look into the animation and thematic ideas behind Riley’s emotional storage.
  • Deleted Scenes (HD, 23:53) – A series of cut scenes in rough form, with intro commentary from the filmmakers.
  • Info (HD, 00:08) – A standard legal/AV disclaimer, oddly listed as a “feature.”
  • Maximizer Calibration Tool (Setup Menu) – Basic visual/audio tool to fine-tune your system.
  • Digital Copy – Redeemable through Movies Anywhere.

Overall – 5.0/5

Even in 1080p, Inside Out 2 is a near-perfect Blu-ray presentation. The visuals are crisp and vibrant, the 7.1 surround mix is reference-grade, and though the extras are light, they’re fun and family-friendly. This release more than satisfies on standard Blu-ray — especially for those who don’t yet own a 4K setup. Highly recommended for animation lovers, families.
