Movie

Mel Gibson returns to directing with this high-altitude thriller about a U.S. Marshal, a criminal informant, and a pilot—three strangers stuck together on a dangerous flight over Alaska. ️✈️ As secrets unravel at 30,000 feet, the survival stakes skyrocket… but the thin script and predictability bring the movie down before landing. Definitely a mixed flight plan.

Video Quality – 5.0/5

Visually, Flight Risk absolutely soars. The 4K transfer, sourced from native 4K material, is razor-sharp, offering breathtaking mountain vistas, snowy landscapes, and crisp textures. The HDR10 layer brings beautiful highlight control, especially with the cold, icy palette dominating the plane interiors and the majestic Alaskan exteriors. Close-ups show exceptional facial clarity, while wide shots feel expansive and cinematic. Even green-screen moments hold up well overall. ️☀️❄️

Audio Quality – 4.5/5

The Dolby Atmos track delivers a solid, immersive experience. Sounds like engine rumble, turbulence, and even subtle environmental noise are carefully placed around the soundstage, creating a tense and claustrophobic flight atmosphere. Action sequences hit hard with solid LFE (low-end bass) support. Dialogue is consistently clean, even when chaos erupts inside the plane. The limited nature of the setting holds it back from being truly showy, but it’s excellent overall. ️️

Special Features – 1.0/5

Not much in the overhead bin here. Extras include:

  • Risk Management: Making Flight Risk (HD, 8:10) – Standard EPK interviews and behind-the-scenes glimpses.
  • Theatrical Trailer (HD, 1:19)
  • Digital 4K copy included.

Pretty light overall — definitely the weakest part of the package.

Overall – 2.0/5

While Flight Risk falls short as a memorable thriller, the 4K presentation is top-flight. ✈️ Stunning video, powerful Atmos audio, and a solid technical encode make it worth a spin for home theater enthusiasts, even if the story doesn’t fully stick the landing. A beautiful disc for a bumpy movie. ️
