Rated: PG-13
Release Date: May 13, 2025
Disc Format: 4K Ultra HD

Video Codec: HEVC / H.265

Video – 5.0 out of 5
Captain America: Brave New World makes its UHD debut with a visually sleek and colorful 2160p presentation sourced from a native 4K digital intermediate. The film’s Dolby Vision and HDR10 grading lend extra depth to its dynamic color palette, showcasing vibrant primary tones (reds, blues, greens) and finer gradients in darker scenes. Detail rendering is crisp, especially in facial close-ups and textures like fabrics and metal. That said, some CGI-heavy sequences, especially aerial shots and the Red Hulk showdown, look overly animated—amplified slightly by the added resolution. Still, this is a top-tier transfer in line with recent Disney MCU efforts.

Audio – 5.0 out of 5
Disney includes a Dolby Atmos mix that delivers a theatrical-grade experience. From the soaring flight scenes to gunfire clashing against Captain America’s shield, the track makes full use of the surround and height channels for immersive action and ambient realism. Dialogue remains clear throughout, and Henry Jackman’s rousing score is well balanced in the mix.
A DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 option is also available on the Blu-ray and is nearly as effective for systems without Atmos capability.
Subtitles: English SDH, Spanish, French.

Special Features – 2.0 out of 5
All extras are spread across the 4K and Blu-ray discs:

Audio Commentary – With director Julius Onah and cinematographer Kramer Morgenthau.
Deleted Scenes (HD, 4:45) – A few character moments trimmed for pacing.
Gag Reel (HD, 2:12) – Standard goofing and on-set bloopers.
Assuming the Mantle (HD, 11:08) – A look at Sam Wilson’s evolution into Captain America, with costume design and thematic focus.
Old Scores, New Scars (HD, 9:46) – Focuses on the film’s array of villains, including Sidewinder and the return of The Leader.

Overall – 3.0 out of 5
Captain America: Brave New World aims to extend the MCU with Sam Wilson’s full transformation into the new Cap, but the convoluted narrative and overcrowded villain roster often bog down the film’s emotional core. The 4K disc itself is technically outstanding—with excellent video, Atmos sound, and solid if limited extras. For die-hard MCU collectors, it’s a must-own. For casual viewers, it may feel more like setup for future installments than a fully satisfying standalone entry.
