Captain America: Brave New World (2025) – Blu-ray Disc Review

Genres: Comic Book | Sci-Fi | Adventure | Action
Studio: Disney / Buena Vista
Runtime: 118 minutes
Rated: PG-13
Release Date: May 13, 2025
Disc Format: Blu-ray
Region: Region A (B, C untested)
Resolution: 1080p
Aspect Ratio: 2.39:1
Video Codec: AVC / MPEG-4

Video – 5.0 out of 5
The 1080p Blu-ray presentation of Captain America: Brave New World is bright, clean, and cinematic. Disney’s compression holds strong even during chaotic sequences, with sharp detail visible in facial closeups, tech elements, and fabric textures. The color grading is slightly less rich than the 4K Dolby Vision version, but primaries like blue, red, and green still pop impressively. Shadow detail remains strong and black levels are solid. While CGI occasionally looks a bit artificial, this is an excellent HD presentation overall—one of Disney’s better Blu-ray encodes in recent memory.

Audio – 5.0 out of 5
The Blu-ray features a DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 track that’s big, immersive, and aggressive when it needs to be. It handles gunfire, flying sequences, and explosive clashes with power and precision. Channel separation is excellent with plenty of surround activity, especially during the Red Hulk confrontation and aerial battle scenes. Dialogue is consistently clear and well-balanced across channels.
Subtitles: English SDH, Spanish, French.

Special Features – 2.0 out of 5
All special features are included on the Blu-ray disc:

Audio Commentary – With director Julius Onah and cinematographer Kramer Morgenthau, covering production decisions, visual effects, and character arcs.
Assuming the Mantle (HD, 11:08) – Discusses Sam Wilson’s journey into becoming Captain America, with a spotlight on costume design and symbolism.
Old Scores, New Scars (HD, 9:46) – Breaks down the film’s villain ensemble and the shifting nature of their motivations.
Gag Reel (HD, 2:12) – Standard bloopers and behind-the-scenes laughter.
Deleted Scenes (HD, 4:45) – A few short sequences cut for pacing.

Overall – 3.0 out of 5
While Captain America: Brave New World may struggle with narrative focus and character overload, the Blu-ray disc delivers top-tier technical performance with reference-quality video and a dynamic 7.1 audio track. Bonus features are light but decent, and the commentary adds value for Marvel fans. If you’re following the post-Endgame MCU saga, this Blu-ray belongs on your shelf.

Recommended for MCU completists and fans of Sam Wilson’s arc.
