The Rundown (2003/2025) – Blu-ray Disc Review

KL Studio Classics | 104 min | PG-13 | Release Date: August 26, 2025
Genres: Action, Adventure, Comedy ️

Disc Specs

  • Standard Blu-ray (BD-50) included in the 4K + Blu-ray combo
  • Resolution: 1080p High Definition
  • Aspect Ratio: 2.39:1 (original widescreen)
  • Audio: English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 + 2.0 stereo
  • Subtitles: English SDH

Video Quality

The Blu-ray edition offers a sharp and clean HD image. Colors are bright and accurate, jungle greens and earthy tones hold up very well. Contrast is solid: dark sequences don’t crush detail, and daylight scenes look natural. While it lacks HDR’s dynamic range, the Blu-ray still looks vibrant and pleasing, with film grain preserved naturally.

Audio Quality

The DTS-HD 5.1 track provides plenty of energy. Explosions, fight sequences, and environmental effects spread nicely across the channels. Dialogue remains centered and clear. The stereo track is a reliable, more compact option. Though not as expansive as Atmos or UHD mixes, it still packs enough punch to make the film’s action sequences engaging.

Special Features (on Blu-ray)

  • Audio commentary with director Peter Berg and producer Kevin Misher
  • Featurette: Rumble in the Jungle – behind-the-scenes on the action sequences
  • Deleted and extended scenes
  • Theatrical trailer

✅ Overall Recommendation

If you don’t have a 4K setup, the Blu-ray in this combo still delivers excellent value. The picture is crisp and colorful, and the 5.1 audio track makes the action sequences come alive. The extras add replay value. For collectors, it’s a strong standalone HD option, though the UHD disc clearly offers the best presentation.
